The Howe Quarry is an area of land in Wyoming stretching 45 by 46 feet. Barnum Brown -one of the most important paleontologists in the 20th century- was one of the two paleontologists that first adventured the area.
"Never have I uncovered a more interesting deposit of prehistoric remains, or seen one where the story of their death and entombment could be read with such clarity," -Barnum Brown
The Howe Quarry is one of the most important/significant findings of the 20th century. And not because is proves Noah's flood, but also it contained the remains of Big Al one of the most famous Allosaurus specimens.
Barnum Brown went to the Howe Quarry in 1935 and he recorded that he found over 4,000 bones and over 20 species including, Allosaurus, Barosaurus, Diplodocus and, Camptosaurus. According to Dr. Steve Brusatte's book The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs "Judging from the contorted angle of their skeletons, the death of these animals were neither quick nor painless. Some of the sauropods were found upright, their heavy legs standing tall like columns, stuck in the ancient mud. It seems that these dinosaurs survived a flood, but then were mired in the muck when they tried to run away after the waters receded." So world-renowned paleontologist, Steve Brusatte says that "It seems that these dinosaurs survived a flood", but the fact this is even a hypothesis proves that it is at the least reasonable to think that there was a massive, catastrophic flood. Also, just so you know, Dr. Brusatte is NOT a young earth creationist, neither does he believe in a global, catastrophic flood. But my question would be, "What flood could drown these animals so rapidly that the Sauropod's feet stand like columns. It's completely unreasonable to think that a regional flood caused it. But not only that, "How or why would there be carnivores and herbivores together at the same place, at the same time?".
Now, let's take the story that evolutionary paleontologists have put forth to explain this. There are several explanations, but let's take one. Some will say,
There was a flood, but when the waters receded it left pools of sticky mud, causing the sauropods legs to get stuck and later to be eaten alive by Allosauruses.
But how did the Allosauruses get fossilized? Was there another flood that cam that finished them off? While this is reasonable in the Global flood model, it would make close to no sense to explain it using uniformitarian processes. It would take a lot of speculation to think that one massive flood came, buried their feet, and once the Allosauruses came to feast, another flood came unexpectedly that would the cost their lives. It's pure speculation based upon visible data.
To leave on a final note, I'm not saying that Dr. Brusatte is being willfully ignorant or just flat out, dumb. I think he's a great paleontologist, in fact he is one of the people that inspired me to study about dinosaurs. But after careful examination of the data through an Evolutionary world-view, he might not have even considered to think that this could be explained by a catastrophic flood, much more massive than we could ever imagine. Dr. Brusatte, having emailed him on several occasions is a great guy and I pray that some day his eyes will to open to the gospel of our LORD Jesus Christ.
